The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by a warm and welcoming staff, many of whom contribute to the diverse menu. On my visit, I was enchanted by the eclectic offerings, which include everything from cozy comfort foods to elegant gourmet dishes. Chef Ton’s culinary prowess truly shines with the lemongrass-encrusted sea bass served with a fragrant green curry sauce. This dish is simply unforgettable and often hailed as a must-try by frequent patrons like Ashley Harrison.
What truly sets a/stir apart is their dedication to a completely gluten-free kitchen, allowing guests with celiac disease to enjoy a full dining experience without fear of cross-contamination. Customers rave about the fluffy gluten-free bread and delicious fried appetizers, which offer all the comfort of traditional fare. Emmanuel Guardian's praise of the Spanish flank steak further emphasizes this restaurant's commitment to delicious, satisfyingly bold flavors.
Moreover, a/stir’s beverage offerings are equally impressive, featuring curated flights of wine, mead, and spirits that complement the diverse menu. Whether you are in the mood for a bold red wine or an artisanal gin, the selections promise to enhance your dining experience while introducing your palate to new favorites.
The ambiance of a/stir is perfect for a cozy date night or a lively gathering with friends. This attentiveness creates an inviting atmosphere that pairs beautifully with the carefully crafted dishes.

“ My wife and I met up with some friends here for dinner. Due to Celiacs, they’re on a gluten free diet, and suggested this place as an option, and oh my god. The food was absolutely divine. My wife had a risotto dish, and I the Spanish Flank Steak; we cannot recommend both those dishes enough! Will definitely be visiting again! ”
“ a/stir is a gem! We started visiting for occasional date nights since my husband's celiac diagnosis, but our most recent meal there earned my review. Chef Ton made a lemongrass-encrusted sea bass with green curry sauce and veggies that was straight-up INCREDIBLE. Don't sleep on this special if it's available during your visit! We're big fans of this a/stir, and I appreciate their varied menu because it means we can swing by to scratch an itch we can't meet elsewhere (fried chicken sandwich for him, fish and chips for me) or come in for upscale date night. Staff are fantastic, always helpful, welcoming, and efficient. We will be back, many times! ”
“ Just wow! We walked in on a Friday evening without a reservation and were seated by the owner who was filling in for the host on vacation. Any manager/owner that fills in as host treats their staff well. That’s so good to see that in a busy Seattle restaurant. Everything we ordered was completely undistinguishable from gluteny foods. Including the bread, fried chicken, and sauces. Just look at that bread!! This is one of my favorite restaurants in town and would be even if I did eat gluten. ”
“ My party had multiple people with celiac and this place was perfect for everyone. The 100% gluten free kitchen was a huge relief. We were all able to enjoy different dishes together without worrying about cross contamination. The gluten free bread was fluffy and the fried appetizers were delicious. The main courses were exactly as advertised and we tried almost every dessert. The chocolate chip cookie and the banana bread pudding were some of our favorites. Lastly, our waiter was one of the best we’ve had in a while. He was extremely helpful, always making sure we had what we needed. ”
“ Love, love, love this one! The food was so GREAT! The atmosphere was soft, gentle, and romantic. We always felt like honoured guests here. All the wait staff worked as a team to help each table which is rare and makes for the best dining experience ever!!! Food was yummy, but the team that works here made this a home run! ”
“ Recently went here twice on a trip because it was just that good! I have celiac and it was so fun to invite friends to a place that didn't feel like they were compromising to eat gluten free with me. I got the braised short ribs both times and they are amazing! I also enjoyed the apple butter with the fried cheese curds. My only critique is my friend got the chocolate mousse as part of her tasting menu and I wasn't personally a fan. ”
“ Came on a weekday evening. It is probably the only place I know in Seattle where the full menu is gluten free. Kind of worked really well for my friend who is gluten allergic. I personally loved the enhanced mediterranean style food. The presentation of pillaf was something that really stood out. The rice stuffed in squash is pretty appealing. The egg plant recipe with yoghurt reminded me of Baba Ganoush. It was probably was that lol. The baguette - the gluten free one with some olive oil and sea salt can be a good mix to fill you up. Atmosphere is great, host is welcoming. One thing though is the portion size is not that great. But they cover that with their food presentation. ”
“ This is the best meal I have had in years and years. I have to eat gluten-free and this restaurant is entirely gluten-free. Normally being gluten-free means a slight sacrifice is taste and texture, but not at this restaurant! The quality of food BLEW me away. The calamari and baguette were delicious. You cannot tell at all that the baguette gluten free! I had the mushroom risotto for an entree and my husband had the lobster Mac and cheese. Both were divine. We also split the kale and apple salad and the apricot and orange cake. Honestly everything was amazing and we raved as we ate. The mocktails are excellent, too. I highly recommend this place! My husband has no dietary restrictions and he normally can tell the difference, but he could not tell here. We both left happy and full. Our service was wonderful, prompt, and friendly as well. This was my birthday dinner, and I could not be happier! ”
